Rooted in a love for nature and people

My name is Demi Klerkx, and Mangrovedopsi grew from a simple idea: that caring for nature and caring for each other go hand in hand. I have always been drawn to the quiet power of ecosystems like mangroves and the way they support communities, protect coastlines, and create space for life to thrive.

From university project to real-world foundation

Mangrovedopsi began as a university assignment during my master's in Project Management. Together with four fellow students, I developed this initiative as a way to make a positive, tangible contribution to the world. Our approach, grounded in thoughtful planning and community-driven impact, was honored with a perfect score of 10 and an award for the best project management approach.

What started as a classroom project quickly became something I could not imagine leaving behind. After the course ended, I chose to continue and turned Mangrovedopsi into an official foundation, so the work could keep growing beyond the walls of the university.

Carrying the mission forward

Today, I oversee the foundation's project management, marketing, and outreach. It is a role I approach with humility and gratitude—learning every day from partners, volunteers, and communities who care just as deeply about our shared environment.
